Frances is a printmaker and illustrator inspired by folklore, poetry, and the natural world. Her linocuts are rich with tangled woods, forest creatures, and half-told tales, the kind that linger in the corners of old books. With a nod to Art Nouveau and the inky drama of Aubrey Beardsley, her work explores the magic where image meets story.
Having completed a Masters in Creative Practice in 2016 (an unexpectedly wild ride), she now works from her studio in Knaresborough, North Yorkshire. When not carving lino, painting or sketching, she teaches Art & Design at York College.
Frances tries to make art that feels like it might tell you a story, if you look closely enough.
